Sit down – and run

There are two events, of a slightly contrasting nature, coming up which may be of interest if you live within range of Shrewsbury

The sitting down one

Please come along to Breakfast at Barclays, Friday March 8th, 9am to noon. The Bank have been great, and will help me to set up shop, with staff on hand to dish out the coffee and cakes – which have been donated by Starbucks and Marks & Spencers. If there are plenty of visitors it will help keep me company, and show that Medic M is the charity of choice in the Shrewsbury area.

The bit more strenuous one

You may have seen the introduction of the Shrewsbury Marathon and Half marathon this year, taking place on June 23rd . Wouldn’t it be great to have a contingent of MedicM runners in the Full and Half races , with a marque to welcome you, banners and labels, and lots of pizzazz?

What is more, two expert runners among Medic Malawi supporters have offered, free of charge as is always the case  with MM, to give you a bespoke, online training schedule and advice. This will include a tailored programme to suit your personal needs,  and regular guidance on your progress – to keep you at it, advise on those niggling injuries, offer encouragement when the way seems dark etc. I know them both very well, and I can tell you , they know what they are doing. And they say now is the time to start training.

The two volunteers are :

Mark has a Masters in Sports Science, is Level 3 Reps (high level personal trainer, in other words), Strength and Conditioning coach (UKSCA accredited), and a marathon runner with PB of 3 hours 33 mins.




cathy_drewCathy Drew:

A ‘Leader in Running Fitness’ who leads 2 marathon training groups in Brighton; 3 times personal marathon runner and currently training for number  4 with increasingly impressive times; and general running geek who does half marathons for fun before breakfast. Cathy was featured last year in Women’s Running as she prepared for the Paris marathon
