Long Walk 2026

So we’re less than a week away from meeting on Friday 25th Sept for a send-off on our Long Walk. At 5.00pm we’ll meet our supporters at St Andrew’s Church, including Rev’d Joe Dent and Bishop of Exeter the Right Rev’d James Grier, for a final briefing and wishing us on our way. At 1.00am on Saturday 26th our walkers will leave Plymouth to cross Dartmoor and parts of rural Devon to get to Exeter to meet our supporters there. We’re aiming for an arrival into Parklife Hub at around 6.00pm.

In 2020 we walked from Exeter to Plymouth. Making the return journey sounded like a good idea at the time, and those of us who did it six years ago know just what we’re in for… miles of hills, tracks and roads; river crossings; tea and cake and bacon sandwiches; and Devon weather.

Why? To raise awareness and support for vulnerable communities in Malawi. We work there to bring opportunities to vulnerable children, access to education and healthcare, and build sustainable communities. Where here in the UK we take healthcare and learning for granted, families in Malawi have to overcome many hurdles just to get to school or be seen by a doctor, where priorities are more fundamental – fetching water, growing food, scratching a living.

  • Help us to help them to build opportunities.
  • Help us to help them make sustainable lives.
  • Help us to help them thrive.

Your support is incredibly important to us and vital in enabling the work we do in Malawi. Please consider using the link below to show our walking team how much this means to you, too. Are you able to give here, or set up a monthly donation to aid our ongoing programmes like the Roots of Hope, development at Chalizya Primary School, and our partnership with St Andrew’s Hospital?

Might your workplace, colleagues or company be interested in supporting the event? We always welcome corporate sponsors. Do get in touch.

Our walkers will have support and tea and probably bacon sandwiches along the way. Malawians looking for healthcare don’t have that safety blanket. Help us to change that by donating to raise funds in support of healthcare improvement programmes in Malawi.
